TOI has reported that Fernandes has come out strongly in favour of Advani.
As given in the TOI - Maintaining that Advani had only placed a “historical truth’’ before the world, Fernandes suggested a “country-wide debate on those really behind partition’’.

So now the country will debate and try to find out who was responsible for the partition.
It doesn't matter that
- almost all the leaders from that era are dead.
- that India has more important and current issues that need to be looked at.

So switch on your TV sets and get set for a ride. Advani will be back in action and BJP will bend down on its knees to take him back, to hell with RSS, only advani has the charisma and the image of a national leader. Murli is no competition, Swaraj and Mahajan are kids.

Times also reported about Togadia's wish to be the CM of Gujarat. Forget it Togadia, forever, you shot yourself in the foot. You will know soon who is the big boss.

Hi Madhu,

I have read your articles ever since I was a kid and you were at India Today. You have often come across as a balanced person not prone to Gandhi nonsense, until now. I live in a White Nation (the US) and have never felt like a second class citizen. Only a blind and a deaf person can compare the pride of a US citizen with the indignity of being an India. A US citizen trusts his government, knows his/her death will never go unpunished, while an Indian solider is there to die. Elite is a bad word in India because 95% of our country lives in abject poverty. Next time ask the waiter in Taj who served you the Rs 400 drink, how much he makes in a month. The Durban who opens the door for you, ask him how much he makes? I bet his monthly salary will be around your dinner bill. Shame on you and journalists like you who have failed India in the past with colored reporting and are doing so now. They should feel ashamed. Rather than calling Bush names, maybe we should hang our heads in shame on PM's like Vajpayee who is too old to walk, too much of a coward to protect his people.

Maybe, just maybe, the day people like us (the English educated hence smarter) start feeling ashamed enough we will start making changes in India rather than just exploiting our servants and labor class. It anguishes me to read this national character articles. A nation that cannot feed its people (a la Orissa) has no character, a nation whose children move around naked (Mumbai) has no reason to feel proud, a nation whose elected reps call religious riots "opposite reaction" has no future. Once again, shame on you and all of India. I am ashamed to be an Indian and shame on you for suggesting anything else.

I will answer your letter point by point. Your name. You can be Chet or Jet, stay away from the sun, fake an american accent, but you will never be able to run away from Chaitanya. He will always be there even though you hate him today.

Gandhi, whom you hold in such contempt, despite all his controversial behavior, is largely responsible for the fact that there is no white boot on a part of your anatomy today. You live in a white nation but you are not white and never will be. You can fool yourself to believe that you are not treated as a second class citizen. You choose to forget the Dot Busters, the Sikh who was killed because he looked foreign and rampant racism.

How many times a week do you have to explain where you are from and spend your time EXPLAINING India to Americans? I cringe to think what you say to them about India. We do not need spokesman such as you. You will never be able to share a good desi joke with any of your new friends. If you can’t laugh together; you cannot understand each other. You will always be an alien.

Yes, we are economically poor compared to US but we do not have to suffer the highest rate of teenage pregnancies, kids coming into schools and killing students and teachers, the highest rate of suicide among college students, alienated parents and children, lonely old people dumped into old age homes, drugs being offered to eight year olds (as my daughter was when she was in the UN school in New York), serial marriages and divorces. The US had a president who was senile and deaf (Reagan), one who turned out to be a serial sex offender (Clinton), and now you have one who didn’t know the heads of state of major countries and ignored warnings of a terrorist attack months before it took place.

The US is responsible for massacres in Vietnam, Cambodia, Iraq, Chile and the list goes on. The rest of the world does not view America with the rose-colored glasses you have been brainwashed by the US media to see through. And, how much does a waiter in Jean Georges restaurant in Trump International Hotel in New York make compared to the price of the drink he is serving? The labor class is exploited all over the world.

You seem to very upset that I am pointing out we have a national character to be ashamed of and we should do something about it. Your insistence that we stay ashamed and do nothing about it is perhaps to make it easier for you to live in a country where the only religion is to hang out at malls and accumulate consumer items you don't really need but have been dictated by advertising to buy to keep the US economy going.

It is not by accident that Americans are flocking to yoga and meditation classes to buy happiness. You have done well to leave a country you are ashamed of. Call yourself an American but sooner or later your disguise and American Halloween costume will frighten you enough to get rid of it. I love America's energy and have good friends there. New York is a center for an enormous outpouring of creativity and imaginative thinking.

Every country has its own problems. It is for the people who belong there to take responsibility for change. If you are so far removed from India, ask yourself why you are so anguished with my article. Chaitanya is raising his head, Chet is in trouble.

Treason..??

Mid-day has reported about a brigadier's treachery of selling the country's war plans for a measly 20000 in 1965 to satisfy his wife's needs for equipment for canning fruits. The source quoted is GoharKhan, son of Ayub Khan.

The immediate reaction of our fellow indians would be now of hauling the brigadier over live coals. We do not trust Pakistan but if they come out with such things our first instinct is "Yea it is possible".

We have still not learnt our lesson from the Samba Spy Scandal.

But when it comes to walking that talk, the state’s ministers seem to have fallen short by miles—government records show that the Energy Minister and Rural Development Minister have run up electricity bills of around Rs 30,000 each.

All paid by the Public Works Department, from the taxpayer’s pocket.
The official bungalows of Energy Minister Dilip Walse-Patil has 10 ACs and that of Rural Development Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil at least nine.
And this when their home constituencies—Walse-Patil’s Ambegaon near Pune and Mohite-Patil’s Aklooj down south—are reeling under nine-hour power cuts.

The Energy Minister’s power bills, records show, were Rs 28,789 in January, Rs 27,551 in February and Rs 29,201 in March. And the Rural Development Minister ran up bills of Rs 34,808 in January, Rs 30,870 in February and Rs 31,265 in March.

Since the marine drive rape incident, Indian Media [TV, Newspaper] is full of reports of rape, sodomy, etc. Its not that this were not happening. It was there all the time.

I saw a constable, trying to manage traffic at Lilavati Hospital, bandra.I and a few friends were having Cutting Chai nearby.
The poor constable was sweating and whistling out loud and running around to manage the unruly traffic.

There was this young chap buying a smoke, he shouted at the constable "Abe ae - phi phi kya karta hai". On this the constable came running towards him and said "Aapka problem kya hai". The guy just murmured something and walked away.

I think every policeman must be cursing Sunil More for what he did to the image of the police force.

The Indian Express article starts with

- loose?? gain would be the right word.

- Cultural icons!!! Now when did that happen. When did those semi-nude, gross visuals became cultural icons...[ Ofcourse except for a Amul or even a Traffic Awareness campaign which was creative ].

A life wasted...

It seems he had approached the girl many times and had received a slap too from her in front of 25 students. He was in a depression since then.

What does the dean have to say? ‘‘Aditya was Senior Manager, Placements for his batch. He was a very good student and we’ve lost a good life. This has nothing to do with our affiliation problems’’. The affiliation problems are apparently giving the dean some nightmares, that's for sure.

As for such students, don't waste your life, because by doing so, you kill your family members too in a single stroke.

And yes please include COUNSELLING as a compulsory option in my earlier post for education, for students.

I don’t know who the PM is !!!

I had sent a mail to Amit Varma about the need for awareness among the new generation.

The article from Indian Express, in mumbai expressline dated 28th April proves it. Read some of the quotes:

REVAMP the Education System, and see the changes in society.

1. We need uniform subjects across india, especially with respect to Indian History [ Past and Modern ].

2. English and Hindi should be made compulsory. Or there is no point in refering hindi to as our national language. English because there is a urgent need to bring the students from the rural and urban at the same level.

3. 2nd Language should be the language used in majority in the state. Offer other languages too, as optional subjects that gives student an opportunity to learn their mothertongue.

4. Form a national committee, to set guidelines and prevent the syllabi from being used as a platform to preach pseudo ideological thoughts.

5. Involve the youth and the industrialists of the country to make the education system dynamic, ever evolving and practical.

6. Specialised courses in colleges, that give a fair idea to students of choosing the career path not as per their ambitions or because the career is lucrative but also whether they have the aptitude for the same.

Privileged people

When a Salman is involved in hit and run, there is trial by the media. Police is very forthcoming in giving statements and details abt the case whereas in the mhatre case [Thackeray's driver] the police needs a directive from the judiciary to provide info abt the charges applied and the charges not applied.

Salman gives a huge amount to the victim's kin without waiting for any such directive from anyone. Whereas in the Mhatre case, the victim needs to go to court for compensation. The critics are unusually silent too on this issue and not much of paper reams is wasted on the Mhatre Case compared to the Salman case.

Manu Sharma is successful in getting bail after cold bloodedly murdering jessica lal in full public view, is the law bending backwards to accomodate the high and the mighty...??

The Taj Mahal,located near the Indian city of Agra, is one of the world's greatest architectural treasures. The almost supernatural beauty of the Taj Mahal and its grounds transcends culture and history, and speaks with a voice of its own to visitors from all over the world of feelings that are common to all humanity.

There are two stories of how the Taj came to be.

The Taj's Love Story

It has been called the most beautiful temple in the world, despite the fact that it was built at the cost of much human life. The Taj Mahal is a real monument of one man's love for a woman. The story is a sad one, told many times. But it never hurts to tell it again.

In 1631, when his wife died in childbirth, the emperor Shah Jahan brought to Agra the most skilled craftsmen from all Asia and even Europe, to build the white marble mausoleum that is the Taj Mahal. He intended to build a black marble mausoleum for himself, and the link between the two was to be a silver bridge. This fantastic plan suffered a dramatic and permanent setback when the Shah himself died.

Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond description, particularly at dawn and at sunset when it seems to glow in the light. On a foggy morning, it looks as though the Taj is suspended in mid-air when viewed from across the Jamuna river.

This is, of course, an illusion. The Taj stands on a raised square platform with its four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlocking arabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and a symmetry of architectural elements.

If you don't want the huge crowds to distract you from your view, try arriving just as it opens or is about to close. A few minutes alone in the perpetually echoing inner sanctum will reward you far more than several hours spent on a guided tour. Especially if your tour guide is Murbat Singh, who makes it his job to find a new comic slant on the Taj story every time he tells it.

To really do the Taj Mahal justice, you should plan to spend at least a full day in the grounds, to see this stunning piece of architecture at dawn, midday, and at dusk. The colours and atmosphere of the gardens and the Taj itself constantly change throughout the day. Under moonlight the marble glows.

The Taj's Other Story

If you have ever visited the Taj Mahal then your guide probably told you that it was designed by Ustad Isa of Iran, and built by the Moghul Emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Indian children are taught that it was built in 22 years (1631 to 1653) by 20,000 artisans brought to India from all over the world.

This story has been challenged by Professor P.N. Oak, author of Taj Mahal: The True Story, who believes that the whole world has been duped. He claims that the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz Mahal's tomb, but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva (then known as Tejo Mahalaya), worshipped by the Rajputs of Agra city.

In the course of his research, Oak discovered that the Shiva temple palace had been usurped by Shah Jahan from then Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh. Shah Jahan then remodelled the palace into his wife's memorial. In his own court chronicle, Badshahnama, Shah Jahan admits that an exceptionally beautiful grand mansion in Agra was taken from Jai Singh for Mumtaz's burial. The ex-Maharaja of Jaipur is said to retain in his secret collection two orders from Shah Jahan for the surrender of the Taj building.

The use of captured temples and mansions as a burial place for dead courtiers and royalty was a common practice among Muslim rulers. For example, Hamayun, Akbar, Etmud-ud-Daula and Safdarjung are all buried in such mansions.

Oak's inquiries begin with the name Taj Mahal. He says this term does not occur in any Moghul court papers or chronicles, even after Shah Jahan's time. The term 'Mahal' has never been used for a building in any of the Muslim countries, from Afghanistan to Algeria.

'The usual explanation that the term Taj Mahal derives from Mumtaz Mahal is illogical in at least two respects. Firstly, her name was never Mumtaz Mahal but Mumtaz-ul-Zamani,' he writes. 'Secondly, one cannot omit the first three letters from a woman's name to derive the remainder as the name for the building.'

Taj Mahal is, he claims, a corrupt version of Tejo-mahalaya, or the Shiva's Palace. Oak also says that the love story of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan is a fairy tale created by court sycophants, blundering historians and sloppy archaeologists. Not a single royal chronicle of Shah Jahan's time corroborates the love story.

Furthermore, Oak cites several documents suggesting that the Taj Mahal predates Shah Jahan's era:

Professor Marvin Miller of New York took samples from the riverside doorway of the Taj. Carbon dating tests revealed that the door was 300 years older than Shah Jahan.

European traveller Johan Albert Mandelslo, who visited Agra in 1638 (only seven years after Mumtaz's death), describes the life of the city in his memoirs, but makes no reference to the Taj Mahal being built.

The writings of Peter Mundy, an English visitor to Agra within a year of Mumtaz's death, also suggest that the Taj was a noteworthy building long well before Shah Jahan's time.

Oak also points out a number of design and architectural inconsistencies that support the belief that the Taj Mahal is a typical Hindu temple rather than a mausoleum.

Many rooms in the Taj Mahal have remained sealed since Shah Jahan's time, and are still inaccessible to the public. Oak asserts they contain a headless statue of Shiva and other objects commonly used for worship rituals in Hindu temples.

Fearing political backlash, Indira Gandhi's government tried to have Oak's book withdrawn from the bookstores, and threatened the Indian publisher of the first edition with dire consequences.

The only way to really validate or discredit Oak's research is to open the sealed rooms of the Taj Mahal, and allow international experts to investigate.

Modi refused a Visa by US....

After granting visas to modi, US has revoked the visas citing a rule that states that the person concerned has "directly carried out, at any time, particularly severe violations of religions freedom" [TOI].

Wow, now thats interesting!!!The Indian Police should arrest Modi immediately, as the US through its intelligence network has found out the real villain of Godhra riots...

But who did grant tourism/business visa to modi in the first place, will that officer be sacked by US Dept of Immigration.

Relax, Modi Bashers, I am not Modi Fan but America has no moral standing to act righteous and teach us about Racial Discrimination, Racial Hatred etc.
